Terms of Use and Privacy Policy

Please read all the terms and conditions of this agreement with the National Organisation for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (NOFASD) carefully. By clicking “I Accept”, or by using the NOFASD website, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this agreement, even if you have not read them. It is important to read this entire agreement. In particular, it contains provisions that may limit your rights, such as the section entitled limitations.

Additional Australian content has been embedded into this online learning course to include ownership and copyright by additional organisations. You may print, copy or save portions of this site for your own use only – provided that all copyright and trademark provisions contained on the site remain intact.

Unauthorised use of any portion of this site beyond that contained in the previous paragraph may violate copyright, trademark and other laws.

The information includes both clinical and non-clinical support content. The clinical content is based on an evaluation of the scientific literature and medical experience; it describes principles of practice generally applicable in most circumstances. The non-clinical support content addresses key concepts and practices applicable to patient safety and/or teamwork and communication.

This information should not be deemed inclusive of all, or exclusive, of any methods of care or best practice. The ultimate judgment regarding the care of a patient must be made by the healthcare provider as a result of informed consultation with the patient, considering all the circumstances presented by the patient, the diagnostic and treatment options available, and access to the necessary support resources.

The content is provided for educational purposes only and is to be used as a tool in assessing the knowledge and skill of the user for development and training purposes.


You are responsible for all activity you conduct on the site. You will not use the site for purposes proscribed by NOFASD from time to time, including without limitation: illegal or inappropriate purposes; sending spam; perpetration of security breaches; hacking; privacy breaches; fraudulent activity; distribution of viruses or other harmful code; transmission, distribution or storage of any material protected by copyright, trade-mark, trade secret or other intellectual property right without proper authorization or rights, or material that is infringing, obscene, defamatory, fraudulent, untruthful, disrespectful, discriminatory, or abusive; any unauthorized access, alteration, theft, corruption or destruction of files, data, transmission facilities or equipment; or to interfere with any other person’s use and enjoyment of the site.


The Foundations in FASD online course is available for completion, free of charge by all members of the public residing in Australia. The development and access to this course has been made possible due to funding provided through the National Disability Insurance Scheme, NDIS, and the Australian Government Department of Health. Parents, carers and individuals with FASD have the right to expect organisations and service providers they engage with to have a basic understanding of FASD and the impacts on day to day living for families. Whilst information will not be shared with third parties in detail or in written form, parents, carers and individuals with FASD may contact NOFASD to enquire if an organisation, business or registered service provider has completed the Foundations in FASD online course. NOFASD will be at liberty to advise if an organisation, business or service provider have/have not completed the training.

When registering for this course, you will be asked to provide your name, email address, your profession, the organisation you work for/business name and the Australian state or territory you reside in. This information will be utilised to compile a database of individuals and organisations who have completed the Foundations in FASD Course. If you do not wish for your attendance/non-attendance of the Foundations in FASD course to be corroborated by NOFASD, please uncheck the box in the privacy policy which reads ‘I would like to be added to the Foundations in FASD participant database’

Additional personal information will be collected, this will not be shared in any form with third parties: IP address, browser type, and the dates and times you accessed the online learning course. The information will also include the results of any of the activities in which you have participated in relation to the program and a log of your participation. This log of your participation will contain information about your participation, but not the results of your participation.


If you believe that anything posted on this site offends your copyright or other intellectual property rights, is defamatory, or otherwise infringes your rights, you may email NOFASD at the email address at the bottom hereof. We will take actions we believe are appropriate in the circumstances.


Your access to portions of the site requires a login ID and password. It is your responsibility to protect that information, including without limitation, to use effective passwords that are not easily guessed or discoverable, and keep login ID’s and passwords confidential. You may not use a login ID that suggests you are someone you are not. You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your login ID. You will advise NOFASD immediately if you discover any compromise of your passwords or suspect unauthorized use of the site using your identity.


All promises made by NOFASD with respect to this website are contained in this agreement. No promises implied by law (whether described as warranties, conditions, representations, or otherwise, and whether relating to merchantability, fitness, non-infringement, or otherwise) apply.

By agreeing to terms of use you indemnify NOFASD and CanFASD against all claims, actions, suits, losses, defaults, liabilities, expenses, costs (including legal costs) and damages from any action connected to the service. NOFASD and CanFASD relies on these limitations when entering this agreement. They are a fundamental and essential part of our arrangement and apply even if this agreement has failed in its fundamental or essential purpose or been fundamentally breached.


This site is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario excluding any conflicts of law provisions and excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Any legal action against CanFASD shall take place in the courts of the Province of Ontario. The parties attorn to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario.


Any third-party sites that are linked to this site are not under NOFASD control. NOFASD is not responsible for anything on the linked sites, including without limitation any content, links to other sites, any changes to those sites, or any policies those sites may have. NOFASD provides links as a convenience only and such links do not imply any endorsement by NOFASD of those sites.

Test results, including any quiz and survey results, will be stored in a secure file together with your personal information and will not be released to any party without your personal written consent. Your individual results will be accessible to you only via a password specifically assigned to you. Your test results will be used to create aggregate test reports. Aggregate data and reports may also be used by NOFASD for program administration, program analysis, assessment and marketing. Test results will be aggregated in such a manner that your personal information will not be disclosed.


NOFASD may change these terms by posting notice on its site. These terms were last revised on August 20, 2020.
